Lauren and Nathan were bringing a lot of goodness with them from their home in New York City to the mountains of Southwest Virginia. Lauren is a professional makeup artist and of course is very used to the glamour and style that is the fashion industry. From the very start she was excited about creating a photo that most brides don’t really give much thought to, the wedding party. Of course there were lots of details and pretty things, and this wedding had a creative flair that was meaningful to the couple and their families, but the thing that Lauren seemed most excited about was a Vanity Fair styled photograph of she and Nathan and all of their friends from all over who were coming to be in their wedding party.
I warned Lauren that wedding days are very hectic and I don’t have a Vanity Fair crew and budget like Annie does, but if she would commit, I would commit and we would try to pull off something special. As it turned out everyone was prepared to bring their look and style for this photo. I arranged and directed it and in somewhat of a wedding day miracle, we were able to pull this shot off in very short order.
There were other special things, too. Like Nathan’s dad’s pin-up cards that Nathan used to sneak out for a little peek when he was a kid. His parents brought them in for a surprise reveal on his wedding day and that is captured here. Needless to say he was surprised and I asked him if he had a favorite and whatta ya know, he did. He went right to the three of spades and let’s just say there was a resemblance to say the least.
Locks and keys were a family theme from Lauren’s side, but I quickly realized don’t ask too many questions there!
It was a gorgeous day with delightful and happy people everywhere. It was a perfect start for a wonderful couple and family who were so kind to me. As always I wish them nothing but a life of happiness and love.
